It’s that time of the year again. Time to bring out the scary outfits and decorate your pumpkins. Some of your clothes might even have cobwebs, but that is just a bonus, given it is Halloween. Do you have kids that love trick or treating? Or will you take part in a trick or tequila journey? What outfit will they wear? What trick will they play, and do you have enough treats to share? If you have kids, you need to ensure that your kids are appropriately dressed for the occasion!
The items below are some of the best costumes and accessories for Halloween, whether you are hosting a Halloween party or buying something for your little ones.
Like Christmas, Halloween is not the same without fun accessories and building up to the fun of the day without crafting some of your own accessories and decorations to make the day more memorable. Halloween is incomplete without carved pumpkins, some cobwebs (made from string or any sort of thin fibre you may have lain around), bats and spiders. Another easy craft idea is to use jelly sweets shaped as teeth, eyeballs or bugs and place these in a clear jar filled with colour water. You can serve these as drinks as well!
Make a beautiful yet fitting wreath for your front door. This way trick or treaters will know that you are taking part in the fun and that they can knock on your door. The wreath can be made up of sticks and twigs, dried grass, twine, and old autumn-coloured leaves tied together with some cut-outs from carton board in shapes of bats, pumpkins, spiders, and eyes. You can also spray paint them black and decorate accordingly. Consider decorating balloons – orange and black balloons are certainly going to add value to your Halloween décor. You can decorate these with scary faces or by turning orange balloons into faux pumpkins!

When deciding on a costume idea, you need to decide if you want to go as someone or something scary or powerful. Many superheroes from movies and series make good characters to dress up as and their costumes are often easy to come by given that these are popular choices and are also used for other dress-up events.
Batman, Spiderman, and The Joker are all-time favourites and characters you should consider. Remember ladies, there are female superheroes who you can choose from as well such as Catwoman, Black Widow or one of our absolute favourites – Cruella DeVil from 101 Dalmatians. A great twist to these costumes would be to dress up as them but in the opposite sex. This is sure to bring about many good laughs and show that you have gone the extra mile with creativity. For example, a made-to-fit female version of Spider(wo)man could be a great twist, especially for Halloween!
If you are looking for something more contemporary, consider some of the newer aged characters such as a pirate from Pirates of the Caribbean, Iron Man, Woody or Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story, Carole Baskin from Tiger King, or a character from Squid Game!
